Too much design - or too many designers (in the broadest sense). That's the killer most of the time.

Agile manifesto essentially states that the end product is all that matters. How we get there and what process we use does not matter. It's not about document deliverables, but the end code which works and has the best UX possible.

I've been enjoying your frank navel gazing. Keep up the writing! And why not mix it with some toons, podcasts, videos, photos etc... And better half-baked than sitting stale in the pantry. Go for it.

The holy grail of questions Matt!
I'm getting closer to your very life changing challenge too. The latest Mac does allow you to switch between the two operating systems which is sweet, but bang for your buck a PC is a lot cheaper (and Apple have been rarking me up too so at least the Rose tinted glasses aren't a concern anymore).

Saying all that though I've had my Powerbook for at leasat 5 years and it's still going well so maybe the investment side of the argument should be considered? Or is technology updating so quick that in 2 years you'll just plug some 3d glasses into your brain and do everything with your mind??

Update: I just couldn't get over the lack of attention to detail and comparatively clunky OS on PCs and decided to stick with Macs for now. However not yet, I'm fairly sure there will be an update sometime early this year, so I'm waiting. In the meantime I bought a Dell Mini 10 Netbook (http://tiny.cc/qKRUw ) to take away on work trips (which are always just meetings so involve no design work) and skinned it's XP OS to look like vista (all the glitz, none of the glug). Actually it has completely exceeded my expectations, I run Skype and iTunes on it no problem, and use google docs for all my work meeting stuff. I've even come up with my own concept for netbook OS which I'll share here sometime. Once I get my mac I'm going to retire it into a strictly open source play machine and see how that goes ...
